When you're boxing nothing else matters. I got hooked on the adrenaline, there is nothing like it! As a kid I used to watch boxing with the family on TV. I loved it and wanted to take it up. Perhaps not surprisingly I was told nobody plays at the sport of boxing! It’s too dangerous! What if you get hurt?
Instead I played just about every sport in the following years. In some I easily reached national level, in others I had to persevere just to keep going without much progress. Back then as a kid it seemed easier to keep fit and find time for myself.
Fast forward a few years. After working in the city for a number of years and with family commitments I understood when people say life takes over! I had put on a lot of weight and I was not doing as much fitness training as I wanted. I knew I had to spend time on myself to continue to be successful but I didn't want to go to another boring gym, or on a treadmill for the next 6 months to achieve little progress.
I had to find something stimulating, exciting, new and challenging.....
And so at the age of 27 I returned to my original path, my passion....BOXING
The rest is history. Four years later I was British Kickboxing Champion.
I was lucky enough to learn in a place that was engaging, challenging and I didn't have to lose my front teeth to improve. Yes, it is possible!
I have trained with some great fighters and great coaches and have gained invaluable insights and knowledge along the way. I can now pass that knowledge and experience on to you.
