Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a certain level of boxing or general fitness experience to be able to join a bootcamp class?
There is no previous experience needed at all and everyone always feels welcome regardless of their existing skill level.
Some people join bootcamp looking to improve their existing boxing skills. Some people are looking to get fit for the first time. Some people are looking to achieve new fitness goals.
We were all beginners once. There is certainly no ‘gym shaming’ or macho bravado culture. We teach everyone and include everyone in all the exercises. This means that if you don’t know a certain exercise or move yet, we’ll teach you.
If you’re not ‘good’ enough at a particular exercise yet, we’ll help you to get to that level; that is what bootcamp is all about.
What do I expect in my session?
Personal Training (PT) sessions are tailored to your specific goals.
From improving your general fitness and overall well-being, or developing your boxing skills or both, we’ll discuss what you wish to accomplish.
After a thorough warm-up and mobility exercises to ensure that you’re prepared for the session, we’ll start working immediately to achieve your goals.
What do I bring to my first session?
Good vibes and a willingness to learn!
Apart from that, bring water and clothes comfortable for a work-out.
If you have your own gloves and hand wraps bring them also, but if this is your first session gloves can be provided for you.
Do I need to submit a membership form to join the classes?
There is no membership form required to join.
Before your first bootcamp class or PT session I’ll ask you to fill out a short health care questionnaire called the ‘Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) That will help me better understand your readiness to train.
I do want to fight/I have a white-collar fight coming up can you help with that?
If people are aspiring fighters we can help with that too. We’ll work boxing drills, pad-work, and bag-work to get you fight-ready and in the best shape of your life.
Bootcamps give additional contact time, drills, and fitness. PT sessions will give you dedicated time to focus on what you need specifically.
And yes, I do have strictly invite-only fighter sessions once you reach the right level.
Who attends bootcamp?
Bootcamp is pretty much a 50/50 split between guys and girls. Everyone who attends bootcamp has fun, everyone gets a good workout and makes new friends.
Can I train with an injury? Can I train if I’m injured?
Yes, but let me know in advance or at the start of the session please.
If you’re injured or have suffered an injury in the past we will modify the exercise to train around your injury.
For example, if you have suffered a lower back injury we will tailor exercises to ensure that no strain is placed on that area to exacerbate the injury and cause more pain.
A good rule of thumb is to let pain be your guide. If it hurts don’t do it!
If I book several classes in a row, do you provide a discount?
The more you book, the less you pay.
Please see the price list for a comprehensive list of all discounts available.
I have a friend who wishes to attend the session - is that ok?
Yes, of course.
Please let me know they’ll be attending in advance because they’ll also need to fill out a PAR-Q form to ensure they are able to train safely.
I want to get fit, but I don’t want to be a fighter or step into a boxing ring! Is bootcamp still for me?
Bootcamp is for anybody and everybody and for people of all fitness levels.
Whether you are a fighter, just starting out in your boxing, martial arts, or general fitness journey, bootcamp will help you achieve your goals.
